The Mayor of Kragujevac Radomir Nikolic and the City’s Assembly Chairman Miroslav Petrasinovic held a reception for the U.S. Ambassador in Serbia Anthony Godfrey during his visit to Kragujevac. History of modern day Serbia first capitol, its present situation, plans, but also projects in the city financed by the U.S. Government, were discussed.
We talked with the Ambassador about present situation in Kragujevac, our history and the city’s features, forthcoming elections and what can be expect to happen in next two months, than, democracy in Kragujevac and our plans for the future development. I believe that we made good impression on Excellency, Mayor Nikolic pointed out.
When it comes to economic cooperation, Ambassador Godfrey announced today that he will make contact with companies interested in investing in Serbia, presenting Kragujevac and terms we are offering to future investors. We expect him to establish good connections ensuring that we are trustworthy people to be seriously talked to, Nikolic added.
I am very glad to be in Kragujevac and to have such open and explicit talks with the Mayor about challenges Kragujevac is facing, as well as further steps to be undretaken by the City’s authority in response, Ambassador Godfrey emphasized. I try not to be the ambassador only to Belgrade, but to whole of Serbia. Kragujevac is extremely important and dynamic city with rich history, therefore, I hope we will meet again soon.
We have numerous projects realized by the USAID Agency, great cooperation with the University in Kragujevac, the American corner, also, the companies operating here. Accordingly, I will do my best to encourage even more investors, he stated.
After the City Hall the U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Anthony Godfrey paid a visit to the Memorial Park “Kragujevacki Oktobar” and hold a lecture on the subject “Relations Between Serbia and the USA” at the Faculty of Law in Kragujevac.
