T he second Festival that gathers the domestic young artists and artists from Bydgoszcz, Poland is organized June 4 – 29 by the musical youth of Kragujevac supported by The Faculty of Philology and Art, Students Conference of the Universities of Serbia (SKONUS) and the patronage of the City of Kragujevac. Second Music Youth Festival will be open tonight at 8 pm with the Chamber Choir of the Faculty of Music Kazimir the Great at the hall of the First Grammar School of Kragujevac. The reception for the members of the academic choir and their professors, assistant dean Benedict Odi, the Dean of the Music Faculty Bernard Mendlik and the assistant dean Vitold Kavalec was organized by PhD professor Nedeljko Manoljlovic, member of the city council for education. The reception was attended by the dean of the FILUM professor Zoran Komadina, chief of the Music Department Vladimir Blagojevic, professors of the Filum and representatives of the Music Youth of Kragujevac.
Speaking about the cooperation of Kragujevac and Bydgoszcz, professor Manojlovic reminded that the twinning chart was signed back in 1971 and that Bydgoszcz was one of the very first cities that such cooperation was established with and it is cherished today too. Thanks to the young from the Music Youth and the students of the Faculty of Philology and Art the cooperation of our two cities will continue to develop and last long through art and education, too. Signing the Cooperation Agreement between the FILUM and Music Education Faculty from Bydgoszcz opens many possibilities not only for the students and professors of the respective faculties but for our universities and cities also, said at the reception PhD professor Nedeljko Manojlovic Member of the City Council.
After the large success of the Chamber Ensemble of the FILUM at the International competition Music Impression held in Bydgoszcz last year when they won the first prize of the Ministry of culture of Poland and the prize for the best performance of the Polish composer the Kragujevac ensemble opened the 6th New Music Festival.
Long cooperation of two cities today due to the young people that connected us through music will continue to last and develop. Music as art opens the possibility to develop the cooperation on several levels and I do expect that tonight’s concert of our choir at the festival will be the first step towards creation mutual music art pieces. The cooperation of the faculties of music begins today but I do hope that it will extend to other faculties as well, said PhD professor Benedict Odia, assistant dean of the University Casimir the Great.
Professor Zoran Komadina, the Dean of the FILUM expressed pleasure and honour for the performance of the choir on the solemn academy and stressed that the essential differences, selection of the compositions and old Polish traditional music are real treasure that open possibility for new composing.
Signing of the agreement on cooperation of two faculties of music and providing the circumstances allow two universities together with the long-term cities cooperation will open new cooperation possibilities for the exchange of idea, knowledge, experience, and mutual projects beneficial for both parties said the Dean of FILUM at the reception.
Polish academic choir preformed at the solemn academy of the 17th anniversary of the FILUM and today the representatives of two cities will sign the Agreement of Cooperation after the reception at the City Hall.
