The President of the City Assembly Mr. Miroslav Petrašinović, City Council member in charge of Culture Мr. Miljan Bjeletić and Mayor’s Assistant for International Cooperation Mr. Boris Kovačević held a reception at the City Hall for the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Serbia Mr. Radko Vlaykov.

On behalf of the City the Ambassador was welcomed by President Petrašinović, who speaking of the city’s industrial development said that Kragujevac once a leader in that field had been passing through various crises, but in the last few years had moved upwards, especially, after the arrival of the Fiat and other big companies including the Siemens.

October has a special meaning in the history of the city of Kragujevac as it is dedicated to pupils and professors executed in 1941 in Šumarice. In the memory of that event various commemorative gatherings and academies are held. Also, that’s the month when the International Theatre Festival is traditionally organized, and this time we have an opportunity to host the artists from Bulgaria, said President Petrašinović during the reception.

The Ambassador Vlaykov’s visit to Kragujevac came on the occasion of participation of the Theatre Laboratory „Sfumato“ at the XV International Festival Joakimfest.

Cooperation with the City of Kragujevac dates a long time ago, and so far has been realized in the field of sports and culture, between theatres and sports clubs, tonight’s performance of the theatre from Sofia is the proof for that. Besides, the contacts of business people from Serbia and Bulgaria are of great importance and in the following period another visit is planned in order to discuss those aspects and analyze possibilities for the future business cooperation and investments, said the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Mr. Radko Vlaykov.

We have already collaborated with artists from Bulgaria, especially, from the world of theatre arts. The Knjaževsko-srpski Theatre has a very good cooperation with the Bulgarian theatres, which is further developing for there is a plan to have here a guest director from Bulgaria next year. In addition, cooperation has also been realized in the field of music with a guest performance of a representative choir from Bulgaria at the Festival of Chamber Choirs, when the Ambassador Vlaykov again was present, said Mr. Miljan Bjeletić, the City Council member in charge of culture. There is a common commitment to develop cooperation in the field of culture, and I hope this will take place, he pointed out.

After the reception at the City Hall, the Ambassador and his hosts saw the play „The Wound of Philoctetes“ performed by „The Sfumato“ Theatre at the Knjaževsko-srpski Theatre.
