The Deputy Head of Mission Jenny Sedov opened in the garden of the Youth Centre the review of Israel movies, another cultural manifestation that will present to the citizens of Kragujevac the rich cultural heritage of this country.
She expressed her pleasure to see so many young people at the promotion of Israel movies because the movie is one of the best way to get to know the culture of the country. Cooperation of the Embassy of Israel to Serbia and the City of Kragujevac officially started last year and since then the number of activities have been organized that presented Jewish culture through food, singing, dance, literature and tonight’s movie, said Jenny Sedov by expressing her thankfulness to the City of Kragujevac for excellent cooperation.
The review of Israel movies started with the projection of the awarded movie “Zero Motivation” that tells the story of a young Israel girl in the army. The young spend their army service in the military base in the middle of the desert by playing games and counting the time till their return to civil life. The unusual stories about friendship, love and homeland intervened with humour are meanwhile born.
Tonight at 9pm will be the projection of the movie “Saving Neta” by famous director Nir Bergman that tells the story of the meeting of 4 women with mysterious stranger by the name of Neta and who actually made them reconsider their sense of their life path.
“Wonderful Kingdom of Papa Alaev” is next Wednesday also at 9 pm; the movie present Shakespearean story of the modern time about the famous music family from Tajikistan controlled by the charismatic, funny but very strict Patriarch Papa Alaev. The review of Israel movies will be closed on Thursday June 20th with the documentary movie about Amos Oz who is considered one of the best Israel writers, journalist and Near East peace advocate. Amos Oz is a winner of many awards among which the Israel Prize and Goethe Prize and his books are translated to over 45 languages.
The cooperation with the Embassy of Israel started two years ago. Days of Israel in Kragujevac were organized last year for the first time and this year manifestation with the review of Israel movies is richer in content, said Aleksandar Stajn, the Mayor’s Assistant for internal and international cooperation. Additional to the promotion of Israel culture the focus of the cooperation this year are IT technologies and tourism. After successful meetings of the representatives of the Embassy of Israel and the City of Kragujevac, the cooperation in the field of IT is agreed together with the promotion of the tour Jewish Heritage of Kragujevac. This tour will be presented to the Belgrade tourist agencies that bring Israel tourists to Serbia and we do hope to increase the visit of Israel tourists to Kragujevac, said Stajn.
The opening of the review of Israel movies was attended by the President of the City Assembly Mr. Miroslav Petrasinovic.
