E xhibition of 20th Antiwar Cartoon Salon is opened at the Memorial Museum 21 October within the Manifestation Bdenje. This year jubilee Salon, as noticed by Nenad Karamijalkovic, Deputy Manager of the Memorial Museum “Kragujevac October” exceeded the number of participants. 460 authors from 63 countries submitted 1117 cartoons – works of art with anti-war message hoping for the better world without war and violence.
In 37 years to the Salon address 19.000 cartons by more than 1000 authors were sent from all over the world, said Miodrag Stojilovic, President of the Salon Council. What makes the Salon special is that its mission together with the City of Kragujevac supports six twin and friendly cities of Kragujevac with the International Association of Peace Messenger Cities, Kragujevac is the member of from the very foundation. This Manifestation has made Kragujevac a paradigm of all suffering and the metaphor of resistance to violence and murdering.
Anti-war Salon in accordance to Miljan Bjeletic, Member of the City Council for Culture, realization of one prudential idea of the founders who were obviously one step ahead of their time. The idea had and still has clear determinant and it is fully realized. Creativity in art sometimes is louder than spoken words. We are witnesses here of the fact that the art speaks loud. We increase the arsenal of our weapons every year, these weapons of our induce smiles. Works of art at 20th Salon invite are invitation to the World to join us. The invitation is permanently open, said Bjeletic who on behalf of the City received the Chart “Kragujevac October” by the Museum for the support of the Salon.
Grand Prix “Peace Messenger” is awarded to the author from Spain Maneul Arriaga. Gold plaque and the First Prize awarded by the City of Kragujevac was awarded to Li Xlaozang from China. Silver and Bronze Plaque of the City of Kragujevac was awarded to Majid Amina from Iran and Andrea Pecchia from Italy. The awards were also handed by the twin Cities of Ingolstadt, Germany, Bielsko-Biala and Bydgoszcz from Poland, Suresnes from France, Pitesti from Rumania and Carrara from Italy. Salon Exhibition started with the moment of silence to the guest from Kozarska Dubica, Mile Zlojutra, Municipality Head deputy who passed away before the beginning of the Solemn Academy in Kragujevac Grammar School. Academy “Stazama Proslosti Gradimo Buducnost” is to be held on Monday on October 21 at 17h.
