“Goethe Institute and the City of Kragujevac shall soon sign the Memorandum of Cooperation which shall be the crown and shall improve our joint activities,” it was concluded at the meeting organized in the City Administration. There is a good basis for such a step, because, as it was heard, the Second Grammar School is a partner that the Institute has been cooperating with for eight years. In this school even 600 pupils learn German language as a second language.
“The other two pillars of cooperation,” said the director of the Institute Frank Baumann, “are in the fields of music and film, through our support of the Jazz festival and Šumadija debut films festival. “Both projects are realized in cooperation with the director Gordan Matić who is helping us to identify different partners in Kragujevac. We wish to also include Kragujevac University, above all the Faculty of Philology and Arts into the cooperation.”
Goethe Institute is the official cultural center of Germany and one of the most important international subjects in the field of culture which actively participates in the cultural scenery of our country. This is an Institute with several years of experience, which offers good quality content and program to Belgrade audience. “By expanding the cooperation,” Miljan Bjeletić, member of the City Council for culture pointed out, “we want to announce another way of de-metropolisation and to make the chance follow modern European tendencies. With no doubt this will positively reflect on enhancement of the world of culture in Kragujevac.
This year we have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the French Cultural, reminded Bjeletić. It is obvious that there is an understanding and mutual wish to make the cooperation with the Goethe Institute official. The guests proposed to expand the cooperation to higher levels, which will not only include visits of artists but also joint program activities. We will soon talk to the representatives of the civil sector in the town in order to define ideas with which we shall approach the Goethe Institute.
The meeting was attended by Sunčica Šido, program coordinator of Goethe Institute, professor doctor Nedeljko Manojlovi, member of the City council for Education and Miroslava Petrović-Torgašev, vice dean for scientific-research work at the University of Kragujevac.
