For the participants and awarded students of the International artistic competition titled “I paint Saint Petersburg” and their teachers, Minja Obradović the member of the City Council for investments and project management, professor doctor Nedeljko Manojlović member of the council for education and Aleksandar Štajn, the mayor’s assistant for internal and international cooperation organized a reception.
The cooperation of Kragujevac and Saint Petersburg has been lasting for five years and this year we have also participated in the International congress “Saint Petersburg and the Slavic World” which took place from 28th until 30th November.
“The Congress, as a part of the International innovation forum of Saint Petersburg, is the biggest manifestation the focus of which this year was innovation and successful implementation and it gathered a big number of representatives of Slavic countries. The invitation of the Saint Petersburg Committee for External Relations for participation of pupils in the artistic contest “I paint Saint Petersburg” resulted in winning the first three awards”, explained Minja Obradović. She was the member of the City of Kragujevac delegation on the VI Congress and, on behalf of the awarded contestants, received diplomas and books which were handed over to the winners, Jelena Petrović, Mija Podgorac and Anđela Đurđević, the first winner, at the reception today.
The artistic competition gathered pupils aged 8 to 16 and the aim was the promotion of cultural-historic heritage of Saint Petersburg, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and affirmation of artistic creations of young people” said professor doctor Nedeljko Manojlović, the member of the City Council for Education, adding that the participation in the competition is just another form of cooperation between these two cities besides students exchange.
Talking about the cooperation between the City of Kragujevac with the cities in Europe and worldwide, Aleksandar Štajn, the Mayer Assistant, pointed out that the priorities are youth projects.
“We believe that it is very important that our youth becomes a part of the international youth community, to connect and show their knowledge and skills and that this should be their motivation in the future for personal development as well as the development of the community.”
The invitation for the contest “I paint Saint Petersburg” organized by the management of this Russian City, had been sent to all elementary schools in Kragujevac. According to the propositions of the contest the first selection was made here, and the jury decided on 12 works which were displayed in the Children Cultural Centre in Saint Petersburg. The works were evaluated by the jury of experts comprised by prominent persons in the world of art.
