Ivica Momcilovic, Deputy Mayor, attended the reception of the Ambassador of Australia to Serbia HE Ms Ruth Stewart in official visit to Kragujevac at the City Hall. The prospects of cooperation in Information Technologies, Health and Social Welfare and Culture are discussed among other issues at the meeting.
Deputy Mayor, Ivica Momcilovic expressed the hope that the good cooperation already established would be continued. We agree that there is enough room for cooperation establishment in Information Technologies as well as affirmation of women entrepreneurship through small grants that Australia provides for the organization of civil societies, said Momcilovic.
Kragujevac City has IT sector development opportunities, stressed Aleksandar Stajn, Mayor’s assistant, and remarked that the City has ICT Cluster with 25 companies. Construction of the Recovery Data center in accordance with the World’s standards in Kragujevac will be very significant to that end.
Mental health care was, also one of the very important issues discussed. Australia has at national level Association functioning very well and providing the support to the vulnerable categories. This is one of the key topics of every society and I think that experience exchange in this field would be exceptionally significant for both countries, said HE Ms Stewart, the Ambassador, adding that Australia supports the local communities projects, especially gender equality.
The Australian Embassy in Serbia implements for several years Direct Aid Programme and allocates small grants to the NGOs supporting social and economic empowerment of women, vulnerable categories, children and raising awareness on environment protection.
